The Delighted Quilt

The Delighted Quilt

I recently released my third pattern, The Delighted Quilt. This was the first time I had an idea, started making it, changed it, continued making it, changed it again, continued making it… and then decided to make it slightly different causing me to need to start over and make it all over again! WHEW!

Of course, I didn’t dislike the one I made first, I just wanted a slight change to the fabric placement. So, I still finished them both and now I have a couple nice quilts. One for the winter and one for the rest of the year!

Version 1

I will start with the one I made first. I was going to make this one with green instead of aqua, but then I found this adorable sheep fabric and changed to aqua to match some of their scarves. I also was just going to make it a single block quilt, but then I messed with it a bit and flipped the flying geese and liked how the two blocks played together, so I made it a two-block quilt. The only issue was that the way the fabric was for the star blocks now had all the yellow together.

I wanted the pieces for each block to be constructed the same, and I wanted a bit more separation so the pieces of each color would all be touching a different color. After I finished this top, I figured out the best way to accomplish what I wanted would be to switch the fabrics in the center.

Version 2 – perfect!

And it worked!  I picked a new color scheme and some fun “Mod Cats” for the centers, and it turned out just right!  I got the color separation that I wanted, and the large blocks were still made from all the same sub-blocks! You can make all the pieces and then make all the blocks, so it is super chain piecing friendly as well!

I hope you love making this one as much as I did. It goes together super-fast, and I enjoyed it a lot!
