The Splendid Quilt

My second pattern has been released to the world! As I love a good rainbow quilt, of course I made it that way first! This quilt is based on the Friendship Star block and the added pieced sashing makes additional stars in the top as well! The Friendship Star is a simple one, so I wanted to use it, but also wanted to give it a little something extra to make it sing! In my quilt I added a rainbow to the background that is radiating out from the center, and I love how it gives a sort of ombre feel to the whole top.

Once I had settled on the overall design, I had to figure out how to make it work in other sizes. As my brain wasn’t paying attention when I decided on the block side for this first one, it came out a bit bigger than I intended! I went back to the computer and figured out if I changed the block size, I could make it in different sizes without losing any part of the design!

The squares also make for perfect and easy fussy cutting. I made a baby version using a cute little fat quarter I found at my local quilt shop. It had some adorable little animal heads, and I placed them in the centers of the stars. If I could change one thing in my baby version, I would have made the stars white to match the animal fabric and used the black for the star background. Do I need to make another one now??

If you made this quilt, what colors would you use in the background? Would you make black stars, white stars, or another color? I would love to see it if you do make it!
